We blame willpower for what is often just dehydration.

Headache in the afternoon, hunger an hour after lunch, foggy thinking at 3 PM — before you fix any of these with discipline, fix them with water.

Your brain is mostly water. When you are a little dry, it works a little worse. Not dramatically, just enough to make everything feel harder than it is.

Make it easy to drink:

  • Start the day with water. Before coffee, drink a glass. You woke up dry.
  • Keep it visible. A bottle on the desk is a reminder your brain respects.
  • Drink before you feel thirsty. Thirst is a late signal, not an early one.

You do not need eight glasses perfectly. You need to drink a little more than you do now, consistently.

Water will not solve everything. But it will make solving everything a little easier — and that is enough to keep going.
